Where does the time go?

My baby is going to be 5 months old in 36 hours. I just can't believe it. He grows and changes each day. I feel so blessed and thankful that I am able to be home with him each day and watch each and every milestone he has. He is an amazing little boy, and I love him so much.

Today we were playing and I decided to see how well he could sit up on his own. He cannot sit himself up, but he was able to sit for a solid minute by himself before he toppled back onto the boppy. He liked sitting up...I think because he was eye to eye with Toby. :)

He also is wanting to crawl so badly. I know within the next month he will be sitting on his own and crawling around like crazy. He is so ready to get moving. I think we might be in trouble. :)

Happy birthday to Granddad today!!!

Happy Birthday, Granddad!!

We had a really good weekend together!! Friday night Brad and I hung out at the house and played with Will and Toby. It is nice to have a night where nothing has to be done, and we can relax and just be together as a family. Saturday morning we woke up and Will and I went out to the courts and watched Daddy play tennis. It was nice weather, and we had a good time. Aunt Abigail came over with Gus and they spent the night with us! Will got to go to his first football party Saturday night...since Nana was too sick to keep him this Saturday night. We went to Danny and Emily's house for the Alabama/Georgia game. Even though Georgia lost, we went away happy because we found out our good friends are expecting a baby the day after Will's first birthday!! We are SO happy for them!

Sunday we had plans to go to Nana and Granddad's for his birthday which is actually tomorrow. I had made his cake on Saturday, and I thought it looked cute...if you take away Gus' nose smudge...I didn't think he would raise up to the counter and put his nose in the cake. :)

We ended up having dinner at their house. We got to give Granddad the picture book we made him of Will. I think he really liked it. Shutterfly is such a great website!! Grandmother, Lou, Cousin Joshua, his girlfriend, Amanda, and Aunt Karen were there, too. It was such a nice time for visiting. While we were there, Granddad put Will in his Johnny Jump. Granddad loves Will's feet, so he was playing with them while Will was trying to jump. I had to get a shot of that.

In other news, Brad is feeling much better. He is almost back to normal. He is having another test next week, so we will see if anything is found with that. At least he is getting back to his old self. Will is still a little sick with his cold. He is the worst in the morning, but getting better each day. So, I kind of feel like my household is getting back to normal. Thank goodness.

There isn't too much going on this week. I have my last tennis lesson on Thursday, and I also go Thursday morning for a doctor's appointment...assuming Brad has gas in his car and doesn't take my van. I waited 20 minutes this morning for less than a 1/2 a tank and paid over $40. Craziness! Brad is getting low, so if he doesn't fill up today he will be taking my van.

Because of the gas, we don't know if we are going to the Breast Cancer Walk or not this weekend. If the problem gets better, we will go. I hope we get to because I want to see the family, but we really enjoy that time, and it is for a good cause. Also, Will has a special outfit to wear that I made him, so I hope he gets to wear it for the walk and not just for a picture. We will keep our fingers crossed.

Will is taking a nap now, and the dryer just finished, so I am off to fold clothes and put more in the washer and dryer. Have a good day.

Update

Update on Brad...we went and had his colonoscopy this morning. Dr. King said it looked great. So, next step is a scope to look at his stomach and surrounding areas. I am starting to think that he is just ruling things out, and that he really doesn't know what is going on, but at least he is being aggressive with it. Brad is feeling better though, but not quite 100%.

On another note, I sent some pictures in today to a modeling agency for kids. My grandmother modeled for them years ago...through their adult company. I don't know if they are looking for children like Will or not, but the worst they could tell me is no. It was my grandmother's idea, so we thought we would give it a go. I will let you know if anything comes of it.

Will is still sick, but getting better each day. I hope by the weekend he is rid of this nasty cold. Unfortunately, he passed some of his cold on to his Nana. It is so hard to resist kissing on him...even with a snotty nose. :)

Our weekend

We had a good weekend. Brad left Saturday morning and went to Arizona for the GA game. After that, he and Josh went to Vegas. They came home this morning, and we are SO excited to see Daddy when he gets home. We have missed him a lot.

While he was gone, Will and I spent the time with Nana and Granddad. We had a lot of fun. We went shopping and got to spend a lot of quality time with them. Will got a bath every night that he was there, which is more than he usually gets! :)

Will wore his "Daddy's Little Punkin" pj's. He looked too cute in them. One afternoon he decided to hold his own juice bottle. Last night I had to get him so pedialyte because his tummy has been so upset. His nose is still really yucky, and he woke up with a nasty cough this morning. But, he is still my happy little boy, and I am glad about that.

Yesterday afternoon while Nana was at work, we went to the mall and some other stores surrounding the mall. We went to the new Toy's R Us because I had a coupon for diapers, so I wanted to see if it was worth it to get them there. Anyway, we cruised down a lot of aisles. On one, I found little Sesame Street characters. I let Will hold the Ernie and it was love at first bite!! He kept biting his nose and laughing the whole time. When I took him away, he started screaming. I gave him back and he just kept biting and laughing. So, we ended up getting Ernie. I had to take the tag off of him and hand it to the guy because Will would not give him up. He is too cute with him!

Well, we are going to go put our things away from the weekend. Have a great afternoon!

Tennis

For those who think it is funny that I am taking tennis lessons and there are kids in the class (you know who you are), I would like you to know that last night at my lesson, the 4 "seasoned" ladies...who are no older than 30...beat the 4 kids...who are 2 in 9th grade, 1 in 10th, and 1 in 12th...in 2 games!!! I told the parents last night that I was sorry we had to embarass their children like that. They said they needed to be embarassed like that every now and then. :)

I am enjoying my tennis though. I told Brad last night that if I decide to take it up, I will need a new racket...pink of course. He thought that was funny. The racket I have is one my parents bought me in middle school...so, 15+ years old. I think it will be time for a new one! I think that I could really enjoy the game though. I will get a picture on here one day!!

Some not so fun firsts

Will had two not so fun firsts today. After waking up and having a very yucky nose, I called the doctor and they recommended he come in to see Dr. Messick for his first "sick" visit. :( Then when we got there, Will had a temperature of 101.4. It was his first real fever. Poor thing. He has been pitiful the past few days, but he remains happy and smiley. Dr. Messick checked Will out and concluded that he just had a very bad cold. So, we are still doing what we have been doing all week, but we are watching his fever closely. We hope everyone has a great weekend!!

What are teeth and why do they hurt so bad?

Will is teething! He is my little drool bug. He has to wear a bib a good portion of the day now because if he doesnt, his clothes will just get soaked. He LOVES the teething rings though...especially when they are straight out of the fridge.

He is also still sick. He is worse today than all week. He has a temperature which I would consider to be a fever, but the nurse does not. His tummy is still really upset, but that could be due to all of the drool. He is now drinking Pedialyte to help with his tummy. One thing he does not like is the big blue nose sucker!!! He starts screaming before it even gets in there. Poor little guy.

Meme is coming over after work today. She is going to let me type and then head out to my tennis lesson tonight. I don't know if she will stay once Brad gets home just to help him or not, but we sure appreciate her coming and helping us out.

Brad and I are going to go see our friends, the Crissmans, tomorrow night. They just brought Hunter home yesterday, and we can't wait to meet him. Nana is going to keep Will. It would not be a good idea to take him to see a 5 day old baby when he feels the way he does.

I told Brad that when it rains, it pours, and I feel like that is our saying now because of everything going on. He told me that the rainy days make the sunny days so much better. Now I have the Annie song stuck in my head...the sun will come out tomorrow!! I hope so!!

Brad is having a colonoscopy on Wednesday morning. Hopefully they will find out the cause of his pain. I hope everyone has a good day today. Tomorrow is Friday!! :)

Sick again...

Will is sick again. He started coughing last night, but I thought maybe he had a tickle in his throat. He coughed all night, and in the middle of the night, I started hearing him struggling to breathe through his nose. I can tell he did not sleep well because he was moving a lot during the night and coughing. He is taking a nap right now, so hopefully he can rest some today. It is sad when your little one is sick and can't tell you what hurts. He had an upset stomach yesterday, but for some reason I think it is related to his teeth. He has done nothing but shove his fists and my fingers in his mouth for 2 days. Poor little guy!! I guess I need to keep thinking "this too shall pass."

Brad is going to a new doctor today at 4pm. I pray that they can figure out what is going on with him. He felt okay yesterday, but started hurting later in the night. He was going to give Will his night time bottle so that I could work, but after I had Will ready for bed, he was asleep on the couch.

In other news, my cousin and his wife who are having triplets found out that they are all boys!! I know they will love their little boys!!!

And congratulations to Brian and Lisa Crissman, our SS friends. They had their son, Hunter Reaves yesterday afternoon. We can't wait to meet our new little friend!!

Will's Dedication Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend at the Rucker house, especially after the rough week. Will went to stay with Meme and Poppy on Friday night. When we woke up on Saturday, Brad went to watch his tennis team play and he sent me to have a massage. It was very nice and relaxing. I went to pick Will up afterwards, and Aunt Beth and Kate were there. We all went out to lunch and then they came over to watch the GA game with us...sorry all you Gamecock fans out there who follow our blog. :)

Kate had just gotten her Halloween outfit, so she was modeling the lamb head for several hours for us. She even wore the whole outfit for a while. She was cute with Will. She had her hand over her mouth making Indian noises, so she took her other hand and would hit Will's mouth to get him to do it. Of course, he would just try to eat it, but they seemed to have fun.

Sunday night was Will's dedication at church. It was very nice. We got our picture taken with Larry, our minister and then sat down to enjoy the reception. 28 babies were dedicated, and we were lucky enough to share this time with our friends Micah Crozier and Kayle Meeks, and their families, of course.

We had dinner at mom and dad's house before we all went to the church. We were sad that Aunt Winnie could not make it because of the gas problems. However, we will be seeing her in 3 weeks for the Breast Cancer Walk. Look for pictures to come. Also, Grandmother and Lou did not make the trip out here either. We missed them, but I am sure we will see them soon.

Overall it was a good weekend. Brad felt okay during the dedication, so I was really happy about that. He is calling a new doctor today, so I am sure we will be having another appointment soon. Happy Monday everyone!!

Doctor's appointments

Yesterday was a day for doctors. I woke up and took Will in for his 4 month check-up. He weighed 17 pounds and 1 ounce. He was over 26 inches long. He is in the 80th percentile for height and weight and the 90th percentile for his head diameter. Dr. Messick said he is growing great and just a gorgeous little boy. I told him that I thought Will was teething. He said that he doubted it was time, and just because he is drooling a lot doesn't mean his teeth are ready. When he opened his mouth, he said that Mama was right and that his teeth are about ready to pop. He said that it could be a few weeks or it could be tomorrow. We will see. :)

I went to get Brad's medicine from Walgreens on my way home and found out Brad had just picked it up. He had to come home early because he was hurting. So, I ended up taking him to the doctor, too. We went to the wrong office, so we were late to the appointment. The doctor seems to think it is his gallbladder giving him trouble because gallbladder disease is hereditary, and Rick had his out last summer. He is at Eastside right now having a HIDA scan to look at his gallbladder. If it is okay, then he will be scheduled for a colonoscopy. If it is bad, I guess surgery is coming.

I also took Toby to the vet. He did fine, and I think he was glad to be in the car with just his Mama.

Our doctor friend, Josh, came over and stayed with the boys while I went to my tennis lesson. Will seems to enjoy Josh (see picture). It was good that he was here because Brad can't lift Will. He helped Brad take care of Will for almost 3 hours.

My tennis lesson was really good. It was a little slow moving, but I am learning proper technique. I actually worked up a sweat during drills, so at least I can say he is working us. It was a nice getaway.

I have posted a picture of Will's leg that he got the two shots in. He had another one in the other leg, and an oral vaccine. Then there is a picture of him and his daddy...about the only way they can hang out lately.

We are due to have Will dedicated this Sunday night, but it is going to depend on Brad. Hopefully he will be able to stand for the time we need to be there. I pray that he can. I hope you all have a good weekend.

Any guesses?

All of my boys are off to the doctor tomorrow. Any guesses on what Will is going to weigh? He is SO heavy. I think probably about 20 pounds. Yikes!! I will let you know what I find out. He is getting shots when we go, so it might be a crummy afternoon.

Brad has an appointment with a Gastroenterologist tomorrow. He has been having bad pain in his right side in his abdomen. They had ruled out gallstones and appendix in the ER two weeks ago. He is going to see what their opinion might be. Please pray that he is okay. He has been in a lot of pain, and he has not been able to even pick Will up.

When he gets home, I am going to take Toby to the vet. He needs his "check" and his nails clipped. He won't be too happy with me when we get there.

Tomorrow night Ellen and I are starting our tennis lessons. The boys both play, so we got talked in to taking some lessons. They are for four weeks and they start tomorrow night.

Well, Will is calling, so I am off. I will post tomorrow after all the appointments.

What a FUN weekend!!!

Will has had such a fun weekend. To start it off, he went Friday night and spent the night with his Meme and Poppy. They watched Baby Einstein together and played a long time on the floor!! What a fun night.

Saturday after Mama picked him up (and Daddy went to the UGA game) we went to Nana and Granddaddy's house. The goal for the day was to get a Halloween costume. We ended up getting Shrek and he is TOO precious. Look for pictures after Halloween!! We also went to the new Toy's R Us by the mall and got some mega blocks. Then we went to Party City and all of their party stuff was 50% off, so being the CRAZY Mama and Nana that we are, we got everything for Will's first birthday party!! It is going to be a baby Sesame Street character party. It will be so fun. Nana also got Will his first birthday outfit at the Strasburg store at Discover Mills. It is precious!! So, I know we are 8 months early, but we already are ready for his first birthday...I know, but we like to plan ahead! :)

Will got to spend the night with Nana and Granddaddy Saturday night, too. He came home today and had a blast. For the first time, he used his Johnny Jump Up. He LOVED it. As soon as he realized his feet were on the floor and he was "standing" he went nuts. He smiled and laughed and talked. It was great. Daddy and Nana and I just cracked up. Meme and Poppy came over and saw him play in it for a while, too.

So, now he is asleep in the chair and Daddy is at tennis and Mama is just hanging out avoiding laundry. We are looking forward to next weekend, too, because Great Grandmother and Papa Lou are coming to stay with us and Aunt Winnie is coming, too. Will is being dedicated at our church next Sunday night, so it is sure to be a fun time. I hope you all have a great week!!
