Sunday fun...

Sunday morning while I was finishing getting ready and packing Will's bag for church, Brad decided to read a book to Will. He really loves to read. Then when we got home from our lunch with our friends the Crissmans, Brad went to change Will's diaper, but instead decided Will should eat his lunch without clothes. He sat in his highchair and ate his Chicken noodle soup and bananas and then Brad gave him his bottle. He got a little upset when Brad took it out of his mouth for a minute. :)

Brad and I went Sunday afternoon to see Fireproof at the dollar theater. That was a wonderful movie...take your Kleenex!! It was made by the same people who did "Facing the Giants," one of our favorites. That one came out when Brad and I were having problems getting pregnant, and it really hit home with us...we still cry everytime we watch it...especially now that Brad is part of the "Daddy Team"...one of our favorite lines from the movie. Anyway, Fireproof was about a married couple and their struggles. It really made Brad and I realize we need to do more for each other and do things to strengthen our marriage each day. We both cried...as did most people in the room, and we recommend the movie. :)

Fat and Happy

So, you may be wondering why this blog is entitled "Fat and Happy." Well, I took Will to Wal-mart today to get a few things for a cake I have to make this week, and a lady in one of those motorized wheelchairs went flying past us and said, "well aren't you just a fat and happy little baby?" Will was sitting in his stroller when she said that...he just stared at her. Then she rode off laughing. Well, I guess this picture is fitting for what a fat and happy baby might look like...not too fat though...but majorly happy!!

So, I think I might know how I broke my foot. When I was younger, I had a bad habit of sleepwalking...and major talking in my sleep. When I was pregnant, I think it came back out in me...and I snored then, too...luckily that has gone away. Well, my mom mentioned that maybe I was sleepwalking and broke my foot. I didn't think much of it until I woke up last night...IN THE HALLWAY!!! Not to mention I was walking on my broken foot since I don't have to sleep in my boot. Now there's a story of how I broke my foot...sleepwalking!! :)

Sleeping Angel...

Ever wonder what an angel looks like sleeping? Here you go..

Splish, Splash, Will was taking a bath..

Will loves to take his baths!! I got him undressed in his room last night and put him down, and he crawled as fast as he could to his bathroom...he could hear the water running. And, thanks to Daddy's cousin, Kristen, Will has some more fun bath toys to play with!!!

The price of a child

Meme sent me this in an e-mail today!!! So true!!

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family. Talk about sticker shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition. But $160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down.
It translates into:
* $8,896.66 a year
* $741.38 a month
* $171.08 a week.
* That's a mere $24.24 a day!
* Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think that the best financial advice is don't have children if you want to be "rich." Actually, it is just the opposite. What do you get for your $160,140?
* Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
* Giggles under the covers every night.
* More love than your heart can hold.
* Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
* Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
* A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.
* A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites.
* Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.

For $160,140, you never have to grow up. You get to:
* finger-paint,
* carve pumpkins,
* play hide-and-seek,
* catch lightning bugs, and
* never stop believing in Santa Claus.

You have an excuse to:
* keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
* watching Saturday morning cartoons,
* going to Disney movies, and
* wishing upon stars. *

You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for:
* retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
* taking the training wheels off a bike,
* removing a splinter,
* filling a wading pool,
* coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs,
* and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream or pizza regardless.

You get a front row seat to history to witness the:
* first step,
* first word,
* first date, and
* first time behind the wheel.

You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, in your obituary a long list of limbs called grandchildren and great grandchildren. You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match.

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits. One day they, like you, will love without counting the cost. That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!! Love and enjoy your children and grandchildren!!!

No longer a vegetarian

Will is no longer a vegetarian!! He got his first taste of meat today! With his lunch, I gave him 1/2 a jar of chicken. I mixed it in with his mixed veggies. At first he was not too sure about it, and he swished it around in his mouth a little bit, but as you can see, he had a smile on his face when he finished! I can't believe our little boy is growing up so fast! In less than 4 months, he will be 1-year-old. Wow...time flies when you're having fun!!
